Know your car - what is what????

AWD - All Wheel Drive:
An AWD system incorporates a specially designed drive train with a center differential that delivers power to all the four wheels of an automobile. A center differential means that each tyre can rotate at a different speeds.

Air Cooled Engine:
An air-cooled engine is cooled by the passage of air, generally forced around and over the cylinders.

Air Filter:
An air filter is installed to prevent the dust and dirt particles in the air from entering the engine's cylinders. It filters out the grime and sends clean air into the cylinder for the combustion process to take place.

Aluminum Cylinder Block:
It is an engine block cast of aluminum usually with cast iron sleeves installed as cylinder bored. Aluminum helps reduce the weight of the engine and in return makes the car lighter improving its performance.

Yamaha YZF R15 Vs Bajaj Pulsar 220 Vs Apache RTR 160

The Apache is attractive with the screaming racing stripe running along the center. The pulsar is over a year and half old and its presence on Indian road is unmatchable. And the Yamaha YZF R15 with its R15 technological prowess is just cannot be ignored.

The following three blogs below clearly show Yamaha beating the other two boys in all aspects excepting for the price. And if a 150cc can do the job of a 220 cc pulsar why go for pulsar then??? Off course there are so many other things to consider. But yet, Yamaha speaks from its raw experience. And it does matter a lot.

The Yamaha R15 comes equipped with a Deltabox frame and some of the best mechanical bits that is miles ahead that any other motorcycle in the country. The bike is indeed very entertaining. The Yamaha R15 belongs to the racetrack. And so does TVS in the dirt biking arena. I wonder if Bajaj has this background.

So my best pick starting from the best

1) Yamaha R15
2) Apache RTR 160
3) Bajaj Pulsar 220

Kinetic Coment - Forgotten???

Looks like Comet from Kinetic is out of trace from the minds of Indian bikers.

Just in case you need a reminder here it is. The Comet 250 made by Hyosung Motors , brings breakthrough technology and performance with its 250cc, v-twin , 8 valve, oil-cooled engine that gives 27 bhp power, 21 Nm torque and a top speed crossing 140 kph. The Comet 250, India's only speedster with advance technology like upside down front suspension, 5 step adjustable rear monoshock and much more takes the motorcycles scene in India to a new level!

The first real sportsbike in India, the Comet is priced at Rs. 1.67lacs (ex showroom, everywhere except in Hyderabad where it is Rs. 1.63 lacs); and is available only as a “limited edition” bike in select cities only.

McLaren F1 - The fastest road car on earth

Yamaha RX100 - The Old Speed Master

Yamaha RX100 was a 2 stroke motorcycle from Yamaha with a top speed of 100 kmph with a 4 speed gearbox and a fuel economy of 25-35 kilometers/litre. This speed monster was released in India after Escort, Royal Enfield and Jawa (also known as Yezdi) came into picture with their own bikes. Yamaha partnered with a foreign company Escorts to release Yamaha RX 100 with 11 bhp. This bike had the best pickup and speed in the 1980s. Just literally unmatched for its agility, light weight structure and speed even today.

The only bike in the 1980s which could beat the speed monster was the Kawasaki KB100 RTZ. And also the Suzuki shogun 110cc. RX100 began losing its count in India due to new emission norms posed by the Govenment. The RX 100, Kawasaki 100 and the Suzuki Shogun - 2 stroke bikes were banned.

Kawasaki and Ninja

Kawasaki has been marketing Ninja since 1986. The marketed bikes in the US is Ninja 250R. And according to Motorcycleusa.com the bike has been kawasaki's best selling bike.

The following are the changes done to the bike for 2008:

For the 2008 model year, the Ninja 250 increased in price by $500 US, to $3,499, and saw the first major design changes in some two decades.

The most significant changes are the loss of the center stand, an overall more modern look, and increasing the wheel size to 17". The front "petal" disk brake was also enlarged, the front suspension was increased in diameter and the dual exhaust was changed to a 2 into 1 layout. The addition of a fuel gauge, a rarity in motorcycles, and the choice to make the speedometer more prominent than the tachometer imply an emphasis on attracting new riders rather than enthusiasts.

The engine and drive train are 70% new, retaining only 30% of the older models parts, according to Kawasaki's marketing literature. Compression and maximum torque have been lowered for 20% better midrange performance.

Bajaj Ninja 250R - India

Bajaj is about to launch Kawasaki super bikes in India. And the first out of the stable is the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Bajaj has got into an alliance with Kawasaki on this deal. Bajaj would import the components of the bike from kawasaki and then assemble the parts here in India at Bajajs Chakan plant.
